Student Courses
Short Description:
The ATLS Student Course emphasizes the rapid initial assessment and primary management of the injured patient, starting at a time of injury and continuing through initial assessment, life-saving intervention, reevaluation and stabilization. Upon completion of the course, doctors should feel confident in implementing the skills taught in the ATLS-Course.
Participants:
The ATLS Student Course is a continuing medical education program designed for doctors.
Eligibility:
all individuals having passed their medical education as a physician of the related fields (surgery, anaesthesia, ...)
all graduated doctors working as a physician in a related field (surgery, anaesthesia, ...)
Duration: 2 1/2-day (2 days in ZH)

Instructor Courses
Short description:
The Instructor Course teaches doctors how to teach the ATLS Program. Course participants practice each type of teaching technique taught during the Instructor Course.
Participants:
The ATLS Instructor Course is a course designed for doctors who satisfy the qualifications and characteristics of the model ATLS Instructor and demonstrated an outstanding student course.
Eligibility:
participants at Student Courses will be assessed and receive instructor potentential points (IP's). Upon decision by the Core Faculty, those highly rated will receive an invitation to become an instructor.

Reverification and courses
To maintain a current up to date status in the ATLS Program, the validity of an ATLS training is set to 4 years. Student are encouraged to reverify by the time their status expires. Detailed information about the reverification process are available here.
